Climb

Climbing in the Philippines is often a mixture of trudging through forests and scrambling up steep jungle trails, the highest peak in the country reaches up to a height of 2,954 meters (9,692 feet: Mount Apo, Davao, Mindanao). Information about trails in most mountain areas is readily available online and in guidebooks. Although, it is still best to try and get in touch with a reputable guide who can organize the trip and secure permits. Transportation outside of major cities in the Philippines run regularly but often have no fixed schedules. The Philippines is relatively safe with the usual precautions that a visit to any other country would require. Generally, technical mountaineering equipment is not required for climbing Philippine mountains. There are good rock climbing sites throughout the country, particularly in Rodriguez in Rizal, Cebu, Bulacan, and Palawan. Equipment for this kind of climbing is available for rent or purchase from local suppliers such as Power-up Gym and Sandugo in Manila, Habagat Outdoors in Cebu.
